400 awards handed out at 4-H Award Celebration

The 4-H Washington County Council recently held their annual Awards Celebration, where they recognized the hard work of 4-H members and volunteers. Over 380 people gathered to celebrate the award recipients at the event. Volunteers were acknowledged for their dedication and contributions to the program, with Michael Huston receiving the Volunteer of the Year Award. Other awards were given to Moore’s Towing, the Washington Lions Club, Shawna Sieren, and the Gary Sheetz Family.

Additionally, 4-H members who received Project Awards were recognized for their commitment to specific project areas. These youth became experts in their projects by completing them, giving speeches, and teaching others. The event also included the presentation of Participant of Excellence & Merit Awards, Outstanding Record Book Awards, and recognition of club leaders for their years of service. Seniors were thanked for their involvement, and community service projects were highlighted, with the Limecreek Livewires 4-H Club receiving the Club Community Service Award.

Those interested in joining or supporting the 4-H program are encouraged to contact the Washington County Extension Office. The organization’s Facebook page, “Washington County 4-H — Iowa,” provides updates on upcoming events and programs.
