Billboard issued an apology to Taylor Swift after including unauthorized footage of a nude wax figure of her in a video celebrating her achievements as the second-best pop star of the 21st century. The video featured a clip from rapper Ye’s music video “Famous,” in which a wax figure of Swift was depicted naked alongside other celebrities. Swift had previously criticized the video as “revenge porn” in a 2019 Tumblr post. Fans, known as Swifties, called out Billboard for the disrespectful inclusion of the clip and launched a campaign demanding an apology. The hashtag #BillboardIsOverParty trended on social media as fans expressed their disappointment with the publication. Billboard removed the clip from the video and issued a statement expressing their regret for causing harm with this error. Swift and her representatives did not immediately respond to the apology. The outlet is set to reveal its No.1 pick for the greatest pop star of the 21st century on December 3.
