Russian President Vladimir Putin issued military threats towards Ukraine during a press conference in Kazakhstan, stating that the US and European allies have direct involvement in the conflict. Putin threatened to use a new hypersonic missile, the Oreshnik, to target government buildings in Kyiv in response to Ukraine’s use of American and British missiles on Russian territory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned Putin’s escalation and accused him of wanting to prolong the war.
Putin, speaking at a summit in Kazakhstan, revealed plans to target military facilities and decision-making centers in Kyiv. The Kremlin’s aggressive response came after the US and UK allowed their supplied weapons to be used in Russia, prompting a severe escalation. Putin also warned of Russia’s advanced missile production capabilities and criticized potential US plans to supply nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
Additionally, Putin expressed concern for President-elect Donald Trump’s safety after an assassination attempt and accused his opponents of using uncivilized methods during the electoral contest. Putin expressed a willingness to engage in dialogue and expressed confidence that Trump could find a solution to the escalating tensions with Russia.
