CNH Industrial Announces Potential Closure of Burlington Manufacturing Facility by 2026
BURLINGTON, Iowa – Case New Holland (CNH), a prominent manufacturing company based in Burlington, has announced plans that could lead to the closure of its local facility as early as the second quarter of 2026. The company confirmed this tentative decision in a statement issued to KTVO last Thursday, indicating a planned move for the production of backhoes, tractor loaders, and rough terrain forklifts to other CNH operations in the U.S. and Europe.
Should the relocation be finalized, the Burlington plant, which currently employs around 350 individuals, will cease operations. A CNH representative noted that this move is part of the company’s ongoing initiatives to streamline operations and reduce costs in an increasingly competitive global market.
Local leaders have expressed their concerns, with Jeremy Hess, director of economic development at the Greater Burlington Partnership, describing the potential closure as a "kick in the gut" for the community. Despite the challenges ahead, Hess assured that the city is not standing idle. He is actively engaging with the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the governor’s office to identify potential solutions to retain CNH’s manufacturing presence in Burlington.
As discussions continue, local officials remain hopeful for a favorable outcome that could avert the loss of jobs and economic activity in the region. The community is bracing for further developments and is determined to support its workforce during this uncertain time. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available regarding CNH’s plans and the future of the Burlington facility.
