No. 22 Iowa Women’s Basketball Holds Off Northern Iowa 92-86 in Thrilling Match-Up
In a close-fought battle on Friday night, No. 22 Iowa women’s basketball team managed to secure a 92-86 victory over Northern Iowa. Lucy Olsen led the charge with 21 points, supported by Addison O’Grady’s 18 points. Despite leading by 16 points at halftime, the Hawkeyes had to make 11 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Northern Iowa put up a tough fight, shooting 55% in the second half and getting within one possession multiple times in the final quarter. However, the Hawkeyes managed to maintain their lead, with strong performances from Hannah Stuelke and Taylor McCabe, both scoring 15 points.
Maya McDermott led Northern Iowa with 30 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Iowa’s strong offensive play. The Hawkeyes will now look ahead to their next game against Purdue on December 29, while Northern Iowa will face off against Indiana State on the same day.
