Michigan secured a thrilling 85-83 victory over Iowa on Saturday, extending their winning streak to seven games. Vladislav Goldin and Danny Wolf both recorded double-doubles, while Roddy Gayle Jr. scored the game-winning basket with just 4.6 seconds left on the clock. Goldin led the team with 20 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Wolf’s 13 points and 14 rebounds. Tre Donaldson added 18 points and Gayle contributed 17 to the win.
Despite Iowa’s efforts to tie the game late in the second half, they fell short as Payton Sandfort’s missed 3-point attempt in the final seconds sealed their fate. Sandfort finished with 19 points, while Pryce Sandfort and Josh Dix added 16 points each for Iowa.
Michigan’s victory was fueled by their strong shooting performance, despite struggling from the 3-point range. The Wolverines are now 8-1 for the season and will face Arkansas next in the Jimmy V Classic. Iowa, with a record of 7-2, will host Iowa State in their upcoming game.
