Polk County and EMC Insurance Announce Naming Rights Partnership for Iowa Events Center
Des Moines, IA – November 18, 2024 – Polk County and Oak View Group, the operators of the Iowa Events Center, have unveiled a significant 10-year naming rights partnership with EMC Insurance. Starting January 1, 2025, the exhibit hall will be rebranded as the EMC Expo Center. The Polk County Board of Supervisors is set to vote on this new name on November 19.
Polk County Board Chair Angela Connolly expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing EMC Insurance’s long-standing commitment to the Des Moines community and its alignment with the center’s vision. “Together with Oak View Group, we look forward to creating countless unforgettable experiences at the EMC Expo Center in the years to come,” Connolly stated.
The naming rights agreement was facilitated by OVG Global Partnerships, a division of Oak View Group that specializes in connecting brands with premier venues. Founded in Des Moines in 1911, EMC has evolved into a national insurance carrier, serving approximately 3,800 independent agencies across the country with a workforce of 2,200 across 46 states.
EMC President and CEO Scott Jean emphasized the importance of the venue for the city and expressed excitement about the partnership. “We are thrilled that our name will be attached to a space that will host many meaningful events for numerous organizations,” he remarked.
The Iowa Events Center has been a key destination in the Midwest since its opening in late 2004. The recent addition of a junior ballroom further enhances its capacity to meet the diverse needs of event organizers.
Hy-Vee, the former naming rights partner, opted not to renew its agreement, which ends on December 31, 2024. The Iowa Events Center complex features notable facilities, including Wells Fargo Arena and Community Choice Convention Center, hosting various sporting events and concerts.
