Former President Donald Trump made a return visit to Pennsylvania, where he was previously targeted by an assassination attempt, as part of his final month of campaigning before the presidential election. During his rally, Trump baselessly accused Democratic leaders of trying to steal the election from him and criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her past support of taxpayer-funded gender transition care for immigrants in federal detention facilities. Billionaire Elon Musk, who was in attendance, also made apocalyptic warnings about the importance of voting.
The event in Pennsylvania featured speeches from wealthy benefactors and politicians, including Ohio Sen. JD Vance, who praised Trump for surviving the assassination attempt. Trump highlighted the heroism of one rallygoer who sacrificed his life to save his loved ones. Despite being relatively subdued compared to previous events, Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump described the election as a battle between good and evil.
Trump also discussed the federal response to Hurricane Helene, including criticizing the aid provided to flood victims in the U.S. He briefly touched on local issues such as fracking and foreign takeovers of U.S. companies. Looking ahead to the election, Trump predicted negative reports against him and Vance but expressed confidence in their ability to withstand criticisms. He praised the wealthy benefactors present at the rally and used Elon Musk as a symbol of the American dream.
