Early Tuesday morning, a suspect armed with a gun and Molotov cocktails launched a targeted attack on a Tesla location in Las Vegas. The suspect, who wore all black, spray painted “resist” on the facility’s doors before firing three shots and torching multiple cars. This incident is the latest violent act involving property associated with Elon Musk, the billionaire Tesla CEO and adviser to President Donald Trump. At least five Tesla vehicles were damaged, with two completely engulfed in flames. The suspect used a firearm and Molotov cocktails to carry out the attack. Law enforcement officials believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the general public.
The word “RESIST” in all-caps was spray painted on the center’s doors, indicating a potential motive for the attack. The FBI have condemned the violent act as unacceptable, stating that such behavior is a federal crime and perpetrators will be pursued.
Elon Musk has been at the forefront of efforts to reduce federal programs, which has coincided with a series of vandalism incidents targeting Tesla vehicles and facilities nationwide. The FBI has warned that those responsible for such acts will be found and prosecuted. Authorities are actively investigating the attack on the Las Vegas Tesla location, working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
