In an effort to reduce drunk driving incidents during the 4th of July holiday, the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau has teamed up with ridesharing company Uber to provide $10 vouchers for anyone in need of a ride home. The initiative comes in response to the high number of traffic fatalities that have occurred on Iowa roads during previous Independence Day celebrations.
Troopers will be on the lookout for distracted driving, speeding, and driving under the influence during the holiday period, in an effort to prevent accidents and save lives. The $10 Uber voucher will be valid from July 3rd through July 7th, allowing individuals to safely get home after festivities involving alcohol.
Authorities are urging those with plans to include alcohol in their celebrations to make arrangements for a sober driver or take advantage of the voucher provided by the partnership between the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau and Uber. By promoting responsible decision-making and providing a viable alternative to driving under the influence, the initiative aims to make Iowa roads safer during the upcoming holiday weekend.
For more information on how to access the $10 Uber voucher and to ensure a safe ride home this 4th of July, individuals are encouraged to visit the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau website. Copyright 2024 KCRG. All rights reserved.
