Central College Women’s Basketball Opens Season with Tough Loss to Iowa State
Ames, IA – The Central College women’s basketball team kicked off its season with a challenging exhibition matchup against Division I powerhouse, No. 8 Iowa State University, on November 3. The squad faced a steep defeat, losing 105-53 at Ames.
Sophomore CeCe Moore emerged as the top performer for the Dutch, contributing 11 points and securing 8 rebounds. Senior Abby Johnson also made her presence felt on the court with a commendable 10 points. Notably, junior Bailey Reding provided valuable support off the bench, scoring 8 points, while junior Jasmyn Williams showcased her playmaking skills with 6 assists and no turnovers.
Despite the loss, the Central team demonstrated resilience, shooting 30% from the field and 34.6% from beyond the arc. Additionally, they displayed effective free-throw shooting, converting 8 out of 10 attempts.
The Dutch will look to regroup and prepare for their regular season opener on November 8, where they will host St. Olaf College at the P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium, starting at 6 p.m. Fans are encouraged to support the team as they aim to bounce back from this tough start.
