Iowa Hawkeye football player Cade Borud, a native of Pleasant Hill, was arrested in Polk County for Operating While Under the Influence. Borud was allegedly driving over twice the legal limit and was observed by a state trooper driving over the line dividing a two-way highway. The trooper noticed Borud had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol concentration was .188. The criminal complaint states that Borud admitted to consuming alcohol before driving. Borud, an offensive lineman, is entering his first season with Iowa and is at least the second player on the team to be arrested for driving under the influence this summer. Receiver Kaleb Brown was arrested in Iowa City in June for OWI and having a fake ID. The incidents are cause for concern for the Iowa football program as they head into the upcoming season.
