The University of Iowa Athletics Department, in collaboration with the Iowa City Downtown District and the Iowa City Area Sports Commission, will host “Hawkeyes from Downtown” on Friday, October 11. The event will be held near the corner of Clinton and Iowa Avenue in downtown Iowa City from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and will feature the Hawkeye women’s wrestling, and men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The event will kick off with the women’s wrestling program and will be followed by both basketball teams, serving as an unofficial start to the 2024-25 seasons. Fans will have the opportunity to interact with the teams, watch them compete in head-to-head contests, and participate in fan contests and an interactive Q&A session. Prizes and music will also be part of the festivities.
Attendance is free and open to all, with parking available in downtown Iowa City parking ramps. The first hour of parking is free, with each additional hour costing $2. This event provides a unique opportunity for fans to get a close-up look at the Hawkeye teams and show their support as they gear up for the upcoming seasons.
