Former University of Iowa All-American linebacker, Pat Angerer, has been chosen as the new color analyst for Iowa’s football program. The announcement was made by Hawkeye Sports Properties, a local branch of Learfield. Angerer will be joining Gary Dolphin in the booth starting from the season opener against Illinois State on Aug. 31, taking over for Ed Podolak who retired from the radio booth after 42 years. Podolak will still be part of the broadcasts but will be passing the game analysis duties to Angerer.
Angerer expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating that he is honored to be a part of a program that has meant so much to him and his teammates. He also noted that he plans to bring the same passion he had as a player to the booth. Gabe Aguirre, Vice President & General Manager of Hawkeye Sports Properties, expressed excitement at having Angerer join the Hawkeye Radio Network, praising his energy and love for the Hawkeyes.
The move to bring Angerer on board as the color analyst comes after Podolak’s long tenure in the role, and Aguirre believes that Angerer is the perfect fit to join Dolphin in the booth. With Angerer’s experience in college and the NFL, as well as his connection to the Hawkeye football program, he is expected to bring a fresh and unique perspective to the broadcasts. Fans can look forward to hearing Angerer’s insights and analysis throughout the upcoming football season.
