Eastern Iowa Drivers Unfazed by Gas Price Increase During Holiday Travel

Gas prices in Iowa have seen a significant increase in the past week as millions of drivers hit the road for the holidays. According to Gasbuddy.com, the average price of gasoline in Iowa is now at $2.78 per gallon, which is up 11.4 cents from last week. Despite this increase, the current average price is actually five cents lower than it was at this time last year. Nationally, the average gas price is $3.01 per gallon, which is 9.2 cents lower than last year. Drivers in Iowa are still able to find a wide range of prices, from $2.35 to $3.39 per gallon.

While some drivers are feeling the pinch at the pump, others like Dubuque resident Joel Banninga are taking it in stride, saying “It is what it is, like cost of living and all that, you just gotta figure out a way to do it.” As holiday travel winds down, experts are predicting that gas prices will stabilize as we head into the new year.
