Former University of Iowa women’s basketball star and radio broadcaster, Jamie Cavey Lang, passed away over the weekend at the age of 41. Cavey Lang, who played for the Hawkeyes from 2001-2005, had an impressive career, making the NCAA tournament in 2002 and 2004. She was a standout player, averaging 16.8 points per game as a junior and receiving All-Big Ten honors.
After her playing career, Cavey Lang transitioned to the broadcasting booth, working as a color commentator for Iowa women’s basketball radio broadcasts alongside Rob Brooks. She is survived by her husband, Mike, three children, and her parents.
Visitation for Cavey Lang will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at The Celebration Farm in Iowa City, with a funeral mass following on Friday, December 27, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Solon.
Cavey Lang’s passing is a loss for the University of Iowa community and the basketball world as a whole. Her contributions to the sport and her vibrant personality will be dearly missed.
