Dog missing from Minnesota reunited with owner in Iowa after 2 years

After surviving two years in the wild, a mini goldendoodle named Corduroy was recently reunited with his Twin Cities owners in Iowa. The dog had gone missing two years ago when he ran away during a walk and was attacked by another dog, breaking loose from his collar. Despite nearly 500 tips and two years of searching, Corduroy’s owners had almost given up hope of finding him until receiving a voicemail from the Dubuque Iowa Humane Society saying they had found a stray dog with a microchip matching Corduroy’s information.

Thanks to the microchip, Corduroy was able to be scanned and identified, allowing his owners to bring him home for the holidays. This heartwarming reunion highlights the importance of microchipping pets and getting stray animals scanned to ensure they can be reunited with their families. Lindsay Koopmann with The Retrievers Volunteer Last Dog Team encourages all pet owners to keep their pet’s microchip information up to date so that more miraculous reunions like Corduroy’s can occur.
