Iowa’s Brown and Williams Decide to Join Portal | Latest News and Sports Developments

Iowa City – University of Iowa running back Leshon Williams and receiver Kaleb Brown have left the team and plan to enter the transfer portal in December, according to coach Kirk Ferentz. Both players had limited playing time this season, appearing in only three out of five games. Williams led the team with 821 rushing yards on 170 carries in 2023 and finished his Iowa career with 1,323 rushing yards in 32 games. Brown, who had joined the team last year after a freshman season at Ohio State, started four games and had 22 catches for 215 yards and a touchdown. The reason for their departures was not provided in the announcement.

Ferentz expressed gratitude for the players’ contributions and wished them well. Iowa, with a 3-2 record, will host Washington on Saturday. The departure of Williams and Brown leaves gaps in the Hawkeyes’ lineup, but the team is prepared to move forward without them.
