The University of Iowa soccer team secured a 1-0 victory against Indiana, maintaining their unbeaten streak and improving their record to 10-0-3 for the season. The Hawkeyes, ranked No. 11, are also 5-0-1 in Big Ten conference play, putting them in a three-way tie for first place in the league.
Graduate student Maya Hansen scored the lone goal of the game in the 73rd minute, assisted by senior Meike Ingles. This marked Hansen’s fifth goal of the season, making her the second-highest scorer on the team behind freshman Berit Parten. The Iowa defense, which didn’t allow any shots on goal in the first half, secured their seventh shutout of the season.
Head coach Dave DiIanni praised his team’s performance, highlighting their ability to handle pressure and execute on key opportunities. The victory over Indiana was significant as it was the team’s first win of the season with only one goal scored.
The Hawkeyes are currently on track for a historic season, with the best record in program history through 13 games. They are tied for first place in the Big Ten and are among the three undefeated teams in the country. Goalkeeper Macy Enneking is nearing a school record for most career victories.
