Iowa City Invites Input on City Steps 2030 Plan

Iowa City is seeking public input on City Steps 2030, their five-year consolidated plan aimed at improving housing and living conditions for residents, particularly those with lower incomes, experiencing homelessness, and special needs. The public comment period runs from Dec. 20 to Jan. 21, 2025, with copies of the plan available online, at City Hall, and the public library. The plan includes components such as a needs assessment, market analysis, strategic plan, and distribution of public service funds. A public meeting will be held on Jan. 21, 2025, for the City Council to accept comments and consider adoption of the plan. City Steps 2030 will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development for review and approval by May 15, 2025. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on the plan to ensure that it effectively addresses the housing and living needs of the community. Contact information for comments is available on the City’s website and through Neighborhood Services.
