Iowa Central Community College recently approved retirement for 29 staff members, professors, coaches, and administrators, totaling over 470 years of service. Notable retirees include Athletic Director Kevin Twait and Director of Theatre Teresa Jackson, each with 30 years at the college, and Vice President Jim Kersten, who served for 22 years. College President Jesse Ulrich praised their dedication to student success. Kersten reflected on his retirement decision, citing the positive relationships he built with state and federal governments. The retirement package was accepted by 55 percent of eligible employees, with anticipated annual savings of $500,000-$730,000. The college plans to review vacancies to determine if positions should be filled or restructured. The search for a new athletic director will start soon, and the administrative team will assess other positions later. The retirees include faculty, administrators, coaches, and custodians. Kersten expressed excitement for the future and plans to do consulting work. Ulrich emphasized the importance of sustaining fiscal resources to serve students and businesses in the region.
