Hometown Pride Program Welcomes Nine Communities from Northwest Iowa

Nine northwest Iowa communities, including Storm Lake, Albert City, Alta, Aurelia, Lake Park, Lakeside, Marathon, Royal, and Sioux Rapids have officially joined the state’s Hometown Pride program. The program aims to enhance physical, cultural, and economic improvements in communities, with a total annual cost of $20,000 in matching funds divided among the communities based on population. Carissa Harvey will serve as the community coach for the nine communities for the next five years. Operated by the “Keep Iowa Beautiful” organization, a total of 118 communities have participated in the program since 2012. Hometown Pride is made possible through private donors, the Iowa Economic Development Authority, and participating communities. This alliance of northwest Iowa communities is excited to work together to make positive changes and improvements to their areas, with the support and guidance of the Hometown Pride program.
