The NPR Student Podcast Challenge, which began in 2018, has grown significantly in popularity over the years. With over 17,000 podcasts submitted from all over the country, the challenge has given young students a platform to share their stories, concerns, and passions. The 2025 Student Podcast Challenge is set to open on January 6 and will close on May 2, giving students in grades four through 12 the opportunity to participate. The rules remain the same, with podcasts ranging from three to eight minutes on any topic, as long as they are original and created by students.
Winners of the challenge will receive recognition and a chance to be featured on NPR programs. The goal of the challenge is to encourage student storytelling and creativity, with resources available to help students get started. Teachers, educators, and parents can guide students through the process, but the content must be solely produced by students. With the opportunity to have their voices heard and stories shared, students are encouraged to participate in the 2025 Student Podcast Challenge.
