A woman accused of shooting at people in Muscatine, Iowa led police on a chase that ended tragically in Washington County. The incident began when the Muscatine Police Department received reports of a woman driving through town shooting at people. Police found the suspect’s vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the woman fled, leading them on a chase outside city limits.
During the pursuit, an MPD officer lost control of his car and crashed, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. The pursuit was then taken over by outside law enforcement agencies and ended in Washington County when the suspect collided head-on with another vehicle, killing both the suspect and the other driver.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification, and both crashes are under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. MPD reported that no one was injured during the shooting incidents in Muscatine and that they continue to investigate those events.
This tragic incident has left two families grieving and the community in shock. The Muscatine Police Department is working diligently to gather all the necessary information to piece together what happened and bring some semblance of closure to those affected by this senseless act of violence.
