Iowa Central Men’s Basketball Team Under New Leadership

Ryan Kirsch takes the helm as head coach of the Iowa Central men’s basketball program this season, bringing a wealth of experience from his time at Iowa State University, Kirkwood, and the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Kirsch replaced long-time coach Chad Helle and is focused on recruiting new talent to fill the roster spots. Three returning players, Riley Edwards, Daviyon Gaston, and Terrius Walker, will provide valuable experience on the court.

Kirsch has put together an international roster, including players from England, Georgia, Serbia, Spain, and Croatia. Iowa Central is looking to develop these players on and off the court while engaging with the community. The Tritons were ranked sixth in the preseason ICCAC coaches poll, behind DMACC, Ellsworth, Kirkwood, Iowa Lakes, and Iowa Western.

Through four games, Lane Campbell leads the team in scoring, with Jalen Wynter and Jordan Cain close behind. Newcomers Aleix Sempere Serrano and Vice Grbic are making an impact on the boards, both averaging six rebounds per game.

The Tritons have a challenging schedule ahead, facing tough opponents like Kirkwood, Ellsworth, and Des Moines Area. Kirsch is excited about the potential of the team and is focused on building a successful program in Fort Dodge. With a mix of returning players, transfers, and freshmen, Iowa Central is poised for an exciting season under Kirsch’s leadership.
