UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed on a Manhattan street as he made his way to a conference. The person of interest seen near a Port Authority bus station after the crime is believed to have left the city and acted alone. He arrived in NYC on November 24 from Atlanta and stayed at a hostel, keeping his mask on the entire time. On December 4, he was seen near the hotel minutes before Thompson was killed, and his movements were tracked through the city, including entering Central Park and taking a taxi to the George Washington Bridge area. The ammunition used in the killing had words written on them. The investigation is ongoing, with a combined $60,000 reward offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman. The police department in Atlanta is assisting the NYPD in the investigation. Police are being thorough and meticulous in their work, with the goal of getting justice for Thompson’s family. No arrests have been made yet, and police are taking their time to ensure they have a strong case for prosecution.
