Annual Membership Luncheon Held by International Oleander Society at Seaside Scenes

The International Oleander Society recently held its annual membership luncheon at Moody Gardens Hotel, where new officers were elected for 2025. The event, sponsored by various local businesses and families, featured guest speakers presenting the society’s past, present, and future. Special guests in attendance included descendants of families who introduced the oleander to Galveston, such as the Sealy, Gaido, and Head families. The Betty Head Oleander Garden Park, located at 2624 Sealy, was highlighted as a place for the public to visit. The event showcased the society’s dedication to the preservation and celebration of the oleander in Galveston.

The newly elected officers for 2025 include Amber Jinkins as president, Heidi Coggeshall as vice president, Sara Hawkes as secretary, Kay Terry as treasurer, Marcy Moloy as Outreach and Education chair, Van Phipps as Garden Chair, and Barry Landry as Historian. Lydia Miller will continue to serve on the board as the immediate past president. Guests at the luncheon enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Moody Gardens and were entertained by the informative presentations from the guest speakers.
