Volunteers from Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation are distributing 26,000 free pork loins to families in need across Iowa as part of their annual Operation Christmas Meal giveaway. The distribution started at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, with 5,000 pork loins being handed out this morning. The giveaway will continue at various locations throughout the state until December 19.
The pork loin distribution is aimed at combating hunger during the holiday season, and organizers have scheduled distribution events at different sites in towns like Bedford, Osceola, Fort Dodge, Washington, and more. The next distribution event will take place in Jewell, followed by stops in Fort Dodge, Sac City, and Denison. The final event will be in Iowa Falls on December 19.
Volunteers and organizers are working hard to ensure that families facing food insecurity have a delicious and nutritious meal for the holidays. This initiative has been running for over a decade and continues to make a significant impact on communities in Iowa.
