The Final Weeks: A Breakdown of Kamala Harris’ Campaign’s $277 Million Expenditure

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign outpaced President-elect Donald Trump’s in fundraising and spending leading up to the 2024 election, raising $160 million and spending $277 million in the final month. Harris focused on direct voter contact, spending $25.4 million on outreach efforts, while also investing heavily in events, including payments to celebrities like BeyoncĂ© and Katy Perry for appearances. The campaign continued to raise millions after the election, with some clashes among campaign officials and allies over the purpose of the funds. Despite the record-breaking campaign, the Harris team insists they did not accumulate any debt. In contrast, Trump’s campaign reported $11.4 million in debt owed to a call center firm. Harris’ super PAC, Future Forward, raised and spent over $163 million, closing the period with $47 million in debt, while Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., finished without debt and $6.9 million left. Other pro-Trump groups also raised substantial funds, with America PAC receiving about $120 million from Elon Musk and Preserve America raising $6 million from Miriam Adelson. The Democratic National Committee ended the period with over $47 million on hand, thanks to contributions and transfers from the Harris campaign. Overall, Harris’ campaign and associated committees raised and spent more than a half-billion dollars, outpacing Trump’s fundraising efforts. Both parties’ national committees had a similar amount of cash on hand as of November 25.
