Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds was honored by the Iowa Taxpayers Association with the Linda S. Weindruch Award for her leadership in implementing historic tax cuts. Since taking office in 2017, Reynolds and the Republican-controlled Iowa Legislature have simplified income tax and corporate tax rates, as well as addressed property taxes. Reynolds accepted the honor at the annual symposium, stating that Iowa’s transformation was a result of unleashing the energy and creativity of its residents and communities.
In addition, Iowa will receive an $8.4 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce to implement the state’s Digital Equity Plan. The grant will help expand Wi-Fi hot spot programs, develop cybersecurity training, and provide educational opportunities for incarcerated individuals. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo highlighted the importance of affordable high-speed internet for families and businesses in the modern economy. The grant aims to ensure that all residents have the tools and skills to benefit from quality internet access.
