First Jewish BYU quarterback in program history to be sponsored by Manischewitz

BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff, the first Jewish quarterback in program history, has signed an NIL sponsorship with kosher food company Manischewitz. Retzlaff, known as “BYJew,” is one of three Jewish students at the Latter-day Saints university. He has led the Cougars to a 10-2 record and No. 18 ranking in the country with 2,796 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Manischewitz, founded in 1888, makes kosher products like matzo and macaroons. Retzlaff grew up with the brand and is excited to share Jewish traditions with his teammates at BYU. In a viral video, he does football drills with a box of matzo.

Manischewitz will produce limited-edition Jake Retzlaff Matzo Boxes to celebrate the partnership. Retzlaff will also share his story and connection to the brand on social media. Shani Seidman, chief marketing officer of Kayco, Manischewitz’s parent company, is proud to welcome Retzlaff into the family and support his football career. The partnership signifies celebrating heritage and raising awareness of Jewish food and excellence. This collaboration goes beyond football, creating connections and celebrating Jewish pride in unexpected ways. The aim is to showcase athletic achievement and cultural heritage through this unique partnership with BYU’s Jewish quarterback Jake Retzlaff and the iconic kosher food brand Manischewitz.
