Six people were rescued from the rubble of a Missouri home after an unexplained explosion caused severe damage to the residence. The individuals were taken to University Hospital with moderate to severe injuries, some requiring life-saving measures. The patients were treated for smoke inhalation and three were in critical condition. The rescue operation was challenging due to the extensive structural collapse and debris. Rescuers had to tunnel through multiple layers of debris to extract the victims and it took over three hours to remove all six individuals, as well as two pets. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. The Jefferson City Fire Department utilized their Special Operations Rescue Team and 37 personnel to assist in the rescue efforts. The agency was fortunate to have the necessary equipment and training to handle the situation. The footage of the collapsed home showed the severe damage done to the structure. The patients’ genders and ages were not disclosed, and the hospital did not provide updates on their conditions. The incident occurred early in the morning in a neighborhood near the Missouri River in Jefferson City, the state capital of Missouri.
