Iowa’s Addison O’Grady and Hannah Stuelke lead No. 22 Iowa to a 69-62 victory over Rhode Island in the Cancun Challenge. O’Grady scored 18 points, shooting 8 of 9 from the field, while Stuelke added 13 points. The team was without leading scorer Lucy Olsen due to a knee injury. This win marks Iowa’s best start since the 2017-18 season under coach Lisa Bluder. This season, under coach Jan Jensen, the team has started 7-0, tying the record set by Angie Lee’s 1995-96 team. Kylie Feuerbach contributed 12 points to the win. For Rhode Island, Harsimran Kaur scored 21 points and Ines Debroise added 12. Iowa will face BYU in their next game while Rhode Island plays against Idaho State. Iowa’s strong performance in this game sets them up well for the rest of the tournament.
