Winter has arrived in eastern Iowa, bringing with it bitter cold temperatures that are 10 to 15 degrees below normal. With temperatures below freezing until next Wednesday afternoon, the wind chill will make it feel even colder. Winds of 20-25 mph on Friday will lead to even more bitter wind chills. Saturday will see clear skies with no snow expected, although there may be some flurries on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to warm up slightly on Wednesday afternoon, but will drop back down into the 20s on Thursday. The cold snap will make for one of the coldest games on record at Kinnick Stadium for the Hawks and Huskers on Friday night, with temperatures in the low 20s at kickoff. While not much snow is expected during this stretch, residents are advised to brace themselves for a taste of real winter chill in the coming days.
