Jurors in New Mexico awarded a man over $412 million in a medical malpractice case against a men’s health clinic operating in several states. The man’s attorneys celebrated the verdict, emphasizing the scheme involving fraud and dangerous penile injections. This case represents the largest amount ever awarded by a jury in a U.S. medical malpractice case. The lawsuit alleged that the clinic misdiagnosed the man and administered invasive erectile dysfunction shots that caused irreversible damage.
The plaintiff’s lawyers condemned the breach of trust by licensed professionals and highlighted the clinic’s fraudulent scheme to exploit older men for financial gain. The clinic, NuMale Medical Center, and its officials were named as defendants in the lawsuit, which was filed in 2020. The trial, held in Albuquerque, exposed the clinic’s unethical practices and the irreversible harm caused to the plaintiff as a result of unnecessary treatments.
NuMale Medical Center President Brad Palubicki emphasized the company’s commitment to responsible patient care and compliance with safety standards at all of its facilities. The company operates in several states, including Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Nebraska, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.
The jury found fraudulent and negligent conduct by the defendants, resulting in damages to the plaintiff, and violations of the Unfair Practices Act due to unconscionable conduct.
