The 2-211th Aviation unit of the Iowa National Guard recently returned home after a year-long deployment to Kosovo as part of Task Force Voodoo. They played a vital role in maintaining peace and security as part of Operation Joint Guardian, working alongside over 7,000 NATO troops from 13 different countries. During their deployment, they accumulated 1,750 flight hours and conducted nine successful air medical evacuation missions, providing critical support to NATO forces and local communities. The unit’s Black Hawk helicopters also assisted in putting out a forest fire by dropping over 73,000 gallons of water. The 33 soldiers will be honored for their service and sacrifices at an event on December 7 at the Waterloo Convention Center. Their return just in time for Thanksgiving has brought joy and relief to their families and loved ones after a long year of deployment.
