Costco recalls organic eggs over salmonella worries

[ad_1]
Costco is recalling approximately 10,800 units of organic eggs sold under their Kirkland Signature brand due to concerns of potential salmonella contamination. The affected eggs were sold in 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee beginning on Nov. 22. The recall only applies to eggs with a Julian code of 327 and a “use by” date of Jan. 6, 2025. Handsome Brook Farms, the New York-based supplier, initiated the recall after discovering that eggs not intended for stores were mistakenly packaged and distributed in retail packaging. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the eggs at this time.

Customers who purchased the recalled eggs are advised to either return them to their local Costco store for a full refund or dispose of them. Handsome Brook Farms is implementing additional supply chain controls and retraining to prevent similar incidents in the future. The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the FDA to ensure the safety of consumers.
