Iowa’s ‘Rising Star’ Advances Driver Safety and Skill Development

Kayla Miller, with 20 years of experience in the school bus industry, has been recognized as a Rising Star by School Transportation News. Starting her career as a transit driver, Miller has held various roles related to safety and operations, including area director of safety and training supervisor. She is currently providing safety, education, and training for over 70 locations at National Express.
Miller’s dedication to safety is evident in her work, including providing training for school bus driver trainers and developing programs for accident and injury prevention. Outside of work, Miller enjoys running, golfing, and attending sports games. She is honored to be recognized as a Rising Star and looks forward to continuing collaboration on safety and training development within the industry.
Miller’s commitment to the safety of students and communities she serves is inspired by the late Durham CEO, John Elliot, Sr. She believes that being in the student transportation industry has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career.
