Increased Thanksgiving Patrol Presence by Iowa Law Enforcement Expected – KCHA NEWS – Your Source for Charles City News, Weather & Sports

[ad_1]
The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau and Iowa law enforcement agencies are working together to promote road safety during the Thanksgiving holiday season. Trooper Tom Williams from the Iowa State Patrol’s Mason City District office stated that their safety campaign, called sTEP, will continue through Sunday. Despite their efforts, the ISP has not met its safety goals, with the number of fatalities on Iowa roads in 2024 already surpassing 300. Last year, during Thanksgiving week, 34 people died or were severely injured on Iowa roads, with 40% not properly restrained. The GTSB reminds everyone to have a sober driver and to buckle up before heading out this holiday season. Local agencies participating in the sTEP campaign include the New Hampton and Osage police departments, as well as the Chickasaw and Floyd County sheriff’s offices. Stay safe on the roads this Thanksgiving by following these important road safety guidelines.
