Hy-Vee Purchases Naming Rights to Iowa Sports Complex for $100K Annually

[ad_1]
Hy-Vee, a popular grocery chain based in West Des Moines, Iowa, has purchased the naming rights to a sports complex in Grimes, Iowa. The facility, now known as the Hy-Vee Multiplex Powered by the City of Grimes, is a 50-acre multi-sports turf complex located near a Hy-Vee store in Grimes. The grocer has signed a five-year agreement with the city, paying $100,000 annually with the option to renew for an additional five years.

The sports complex has already seen a high level of activity since its partial opening last fall, with 2.1 million visitors so far. It has hosted various youth sports tournaments, including baseball and soccer competitions. The facility is part of an 80-acre development plan that includes commercial, retail, and entertainment spaces. A hotel, townhome and apartment complex, retail center, and a Chipotle location are currently under construction near the complex.

Hy-Vee’s Vice President of Sports Marketing, Matt Nickell, stated that the company values promoting health and wellness and supporting active lifestyles for all ages, making the investment in the sports complex a natural fit. With over 75,000 employees and $13 billion in annual sales, Hy-Vee was named the Supermarket News 2023 Retailer of the Year. The naming rights agreement with the City of Grimes further solidifies the company’s commitment to community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles through sports and recreation.
