President-elect Donald Trump has named Russell Vought as his pick to lead the Office of Management and Budget. In a statement, Trump praised Vought as an aggressive cost-cutter who will help implement his America First Agenda. Vought, who previously held the position in Trump’s first term, responded with gratitude and a commitment to serve the American people. He believes the President’s budget is a powerful tool for enforcing public policy in federal agencies. Vought has advocated for Trump to take greater control over government agencies and dismantle what he refers to as the “woke” and weaponized bureaucracy.
Trump’s allies have distanced themselves from Project 2025, a conservative blueprint that Vought co-authored, but many associated with the initiative have been tapped for positions in the incoming administration. If confirmed by the Senate, Vought will oversee budget and policy execution across executive departments and agencies.
Other key Cabinet picks announced by Trump include Scott Turner for housing and urban development secretary, Lori Chavez-DeRemer for labor secretary, and Marty Makary for FDA commissioner. Sebastian Gorka, a former aide who previously faced criticism for wearing a medal linked to a Nazi-linked group, has been named as deputy assistant and senior director for counterterrorism. Stephen Miller has praised Vought as a “transformative pick” who will help take down the deep state.
