Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun led the charge in spreading holiday cheer and the spirit of giving in the community. He started his day at the Baken Park Family Fare for the Public Works AFSCME Food Drive, where he encouraged people to donate food or cash to help Feeding South Dakota. The food drive, now in its third year, has collected over 2,100 pounds of food and $1,100 in donations, showcasing the generosity of Rapid City residents.
After the food drive, Mayor Salamun made his way to Safeway to support the Salvation Army by ringing the bell and collecting donations. He emphasized the importance of giving back and hoped to inspire others to follow suit. The Mayor praised the community for their generosity and urged everyone to share the Christmas spirit with those in need.
The Red Kettle campaign, which benefits the Salvation Army, continues through Christmas Eve and is in need of more volunteers to ring the bell. Mayor Salamun encouraged people to get involved in giving back this holiday season by visiting registertoring.com. With the Mayor leading by example and the community’s generous spirit, Rapid City is making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate during this festive time of year.
