First Interstate Bank and McClure Engineering Support STEAMfest at Iowa Central Community College
Fort Dodge, IA – On November 7, Iowa Central Community College hosted STEAMfest, an inspiring event aimed at promoting education and careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM). This year’s festival successfully engaged youth and their families through interactive exhibits and activities.
Notable supporters of STEAMfest included First Interstate Bank and McClure Engineering, both of which made generous donations to help ensure the event’s success. Representatives from these organizations, including Shari Burke and MaKayla Allison of First Interstate Bank, as well as Luke Hugghins from McClure Engineering, attended to represent their companies and express their commitment to local educational initiatives.
The festival featured a variety of hands-on activities designed to spark interest in STEAM fields. Attendees explored insect displays from the Iowa State University Insect Zoo, engaged with the Iowa Corn trailer, operated drones from the Iowa State Patrol, and participated in interactive crime scene investigations. The event provided a unique opportunity for families to learn about STEAM careers and the resources available within their community.
Key figures attending the event included Megan Kruse, College and Career Transition Counselor; Mauree Haage from the Iowa Governors STEM Advisory Council; and Dawn Larson, Economic Development Specialist for the city of Fort Dodge. Families, including Cargill’s plant manager Sydney Pokorny, also enjoyed the festivities.
The success of STEAMfest underlines the importance of community support in fostering a new generation of innovators. The next STEAMfest is set to take place on November 6, 2025, promising another engaging experience for local families.
