A recount in the Iowa 1st Congressional District race between incumbent Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Democrat challenger Christina Bohannan began on Friday and continued on Monday in Scott County. In a much tighter rematch, Bohannan requested the recount after initial tally showed her trailing Miller-Meeks by fewer than 1,000 votes. The recount is also scheduled for the Iowa House District 98 race where Democratic incumbent Monica Kurth leads Republican Nathan Ramker by 45 votes. The recounts are open to the public, but seating may be limited. The Scott County Board of Supervisors voted to conduct the recounts, expecting minimal changes. Other state races near Des Moines are also being recounted, with results needing to be certified in Iowa by December 2nd. Ultimately, the outcome of the recounts will determine the final results in these hotly contested races.
