Local youth volunteers at Governor’s Charity Steer Show to support Ronald McDonald Houses | Local News, Sports, and Job Opportunities

Lainey Harre, a resident of Gilman, will be participating in the upcoming Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair on August 10. This annual event, sponsored by the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and the Iowa Beef Industry Council, raises funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa. Harre will showcase her steer, Hilton Storm, alongside celebrity Audi Crooks, the ISU All Big 12 Center.

The Governor’s Charity Steer Show, which has been held since 1983, aims to highlight the generosity of the beef cattle industry and support families in need through the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa. Last year, the event raised over $500,000, breaking fundraising records for the third consecutive year.

Harre, a senior at Colo Nesco, has been showing cattle for fourteen years and is excited to participate in the event that benefits a cause she is passionate about. Supporters can contribute by donating online or attending the show and auction, which will take place at Pioneer Pavilion at the Iowa State Fair.

The Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show has proven to be a successful and impactful fundraiser, with all proceeds benefiting families of seriously ill or hospitalized children through the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa. The event brings together industry supporters, youth participants, and community members for a meaningful cause.
