Wisconsin Battles Iowa for Heartland Trophy and Bowl Eligibility

The Wisconsin Badgers are set to face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes this Saturday night at Kinnick Stadium, with both teams vying for a win that would guarantee bowl eligibility and the chance to claim the Heartland Trophy. This marks the 98th meeting between the two storied programs, although the Heartland Trophy was only introduced in 2004. Wisconsin holds a narrow all-time series lead at 49-46-2, but Iowa has claimed the trophy three times in the last four years.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET, following the B1G College Countdown show, which will air live on NBC and Peacock.

Wisconsin is looking to bounce back after a disappointing 28-13 loss to Penn State, halting their three-game winning streak. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Braedyn Locke struggled, registering his lowest efficiency of the season with 217 yards passing and an interception. Star running back Tawee Walker has been a standout performer, accumulating 624 rushing yards and ten touchdowns, and is on pace for a 1,000-yard season.

On the other side, Iowa comes off a convincing 40-14 victory over Northwestern, though they will need to adjust their offense due to the injury of starting quarterback Cade McNamara, who sustained a concussion. Redshirt junior Brendan Sullivan will take the helm, having previously made eight starts at Northwestern and accounting for ten touchdowns in his last two seasons.

With both teams eager for a victory and the stakes high for bowl eligibility, this highly anticipated matchup promises to be a thrilling experience for college football fans.
