A former Disney employee named Michael Scheuer is being accused of hacking into the menu-creating software used by the company’s restaurants after being terminated from his position as a menu production manager at Walt Disney World. The federal criminal complaint filed against Scheuer alleges that he made unauthorized changes to menu prices, added profanity, and falsely indicated that certain food items did not contain peanuts, posing a potential threat to individuals with peanut allergies. Despite denying any wrongdoing, Scheuer admitted to accessing the software from a personal device after being fired. Federal agents searched his home and seized four personal computers as part of the investigation. David Haas, an attorney representing Scheuer, stated that the allegations do not involve any actual harm to others and that his client has a disability that may have influenced his termination from Disney. He also mentioned that Scheuer had filed an EEOC complaint against Disney after being fired. Disney has not responded to requests for comment on the matter at this time.
