Braves Set to Compete in MVC Championships This Friday in Cedar Falls

PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley Braves are gearing up to reclaim top positions at the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Championships, taking place this Friday at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The women’s 6K race is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K at 12:00 p.m.

Among the competitors will be fellow Valley teams, including Belmont, Indiana State, Illinois State, Drake, Northern Iowa, Missouri State (women’s race only), UIC, Southern Illinois, Murray State, Evansville, and Valparaiso. In the pre-championship polls, expectations are high for the Braves, with the women’s team being unanimously ranked first and the men’s team securing third place—with guidance from standout returning performers.

The Braves demonstrated strong performances at the recent Pink Classic on October 18 at Newman Golf Course. Jayde Rosslee set a new program record for the 8K, finishing second, while Nadia Potgieter placed second in the 6K, recording the fourth-fastest time in the program’s history. The women’s team placed third out of 32 teams, while the men took eighth out of 29.

In last year’s MVC Championships held at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, both the men’s and women’s teams finished in second place. Key contributors included Michael Rebello, who earned All-MVC honors for his seventh-place finish, and Wilma Nielsen, who helped lead the women’s team alongside Abigail Hancock, each securing All-MVC selections.

Following the MVC Championships, the Braves will enjoy a two-week break before they host the NCAA Midwest Regional at Newman Golf Course on November 15.
