TCU Volleyball Gears Up for Homestand Against Colorado and Iowa State
FORT WORTH – No. 18 TCU is set to reclaim its momentum in front of home fans as the Frogs host both Colorado and Iowa State at Schollmaier Arena on October 30 and November 1, respectively. Following a challenging five-set defeat to No. 23 Baylor, TCU aims to bolster its impressive home record of 9-1 this season, having achieved five clean sweeps.
Ranked for the first time in program history just seven weeks ago, TCU climbs to No. 18 in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Coaches’ Poll, and they are currently the No. 14 team per the NCAA Selection Committee’s in-season rankings. Key to their success is Melanie Parra, who is turning heads nationally, ranking in the top ten in five offensive categories, including second in the NCAA for both points and kills per set. Parra made history as the first player in Division I women’s volleyball to receive back-to-back AVCA/GameChanger Player of the Week honors.
Looking ahead, TCU’s first opponent, Colorado, is coming off a loss to No. 21 BYU and holds a 10-11 season record, including a 3-6 in their inaugural Big 12 campaign. The Buffaloes feature standout players like Ana Burilovic, who leads the team in kills, and setter Taylor Simpson, who has been critical in establishing a solid offense.
Iowa State enters the week with a 9-10 overall record and is also navigating through injury challenges. The Cyclones have six players with over 100 kills this season, led by Lilly Wachholz and Maya Duckworth.
Wednesday’s matchup against Colorado marks the first meeting in program history, while TCU trails Iowa State 18-4 in their all-time series, making the upcoming homestand crucial for the Frogs’ aspirations in the Big 12 standings.
