Iowa State Women’s Basketball Set for Exhibition Match Against Central College

Ames, Iowa – The No. 8 Iowa State Cyclones are set to kick off their women’s basketball season with an exhibition game against Central College on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. CT at Hilton Coliseum. This event marks Iowa State’s only exhibition prior to the official commencement of the 2024-25 season next Monday.

The matchup revives a storied history as the Cyclones previously faced the Dutch from 1975 to 1979, claiming victory in five out of seven encounters.

Iowa State is entering the season with notable recognition; two of its standout players, Audi Crooks and Emily Ryan, have been named to the Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Watchlist. This marks the first time both athletes have received this honor.

The Cyclones will look to build on last year’s success, as they welcome back six players and introduce six newcomers to their roster. Iowa State achieved an impressive turnaround last season, reaching the Big 12 Championship game despite returning less than 25% of the minutes played from the previous title-winners. Their impressive NCAA tournament run saw them pull off a stunning 20-point comeback in the first round against Maryland, with Crooks dazzling fans by scoring 40 points.

With a prestigious history behind them, including a remarkable 920 consecutive games with at least one 3-point field goal, the Cyclones are poised for a competitive season ahead as they strive for another successful journey in women’s college basketball.
